While Colorado is known for its abundance of outdoor spaces, views and activities, the Centennial state also provides plenty of romantic settings for a proposal.
If you and your partner live in, or are visiting Colorado here are the best places to pop the question for a memorable and picturesque proposal.
Indoor Proposal Locations in Colorado
Penrose Room
If you’re in Colorado Springs and looking for a luxurious space to pop the question, Penrose Room is where you’ll want to be. Located in The Broadmoor hotel, Penrose Room is the only five-star restaurant in Colorado and includes three-course meals, cocktails, dancing and live entertainment.
After a full and elegant evening, take a stroll through the rest of the resort and get down on one knee to complete the memorable night.
Denver Clock Tower
Probably one of the most unique spots in all of Colorado to propose is the Denver Clock Tower. Although they reserve most of their dates on the calendar for other events, you can often snag a spot within a couple weeks of your planned proposal timeframe — and it’s so worth it.
Denver Art Museum
Located near Civic Center Park, Denver Art Museum is a contemporary gem among a nature-filled city. If you and your partner are art-enthusiasts, then a museum proposal is the way to go. After taking a stroll through the galleries and exhibits, choose your favorite one to pop the question in front of. Any section of this modern and architectural building will prove to be a memorable spot to kick off this exciting chapter.
Telluride Gondola
While technically this attraction could be considered an outdoor adventure, the 13-minute ride inside the gondola is where the magic happens.
Looking over the San Juan mountains, the gondola provides a quiet and intimate setting for a romantic proposal that the two of you will remember for years and years to come.
Peaks Lounge at Hyatt Regency
Panoramic views, breathtaking heights, and a romantic ambiance make up a night a Peaks Lounge. Located on the 27th floor of the Hyatt Regency in the heart of downtown, the bar and lounge is the ideal spot for a sophisticated evening. Enjoy cocktails and light dessert before popping the question, then finish the evening with a bottle of champagne to celebrate. (This is also one of our personal favorite bars!)
Outdoor Proposal Locations in Colorado
Anschutz Family Sky Terrace
Located at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the Anschutz Family Sky Terrace looks out at the Denver skyline and the Rockies and makes for a picture perfect moment to get down on one knee.
After making your way through the museum exhibits, head out to the terrace (make sure there aren’t any events taking place that day!) and take in the views before sharing a sweet moment with your loved one.
Denver Botanic Gardens
Turn your nature stroll into a moment neither of you will every forget by popping the question at the Denver Botanic Gardens.
With plenty of lush greenery, florals and even water as your surrounding, there is no shortage of spots that the two if you can escape to for some alone time.
Not to mention, the picturesque backdrop that the garden provides would make for beautiful photos!
City Park
A fixture in the Mile High City, City Park makes for a classic setting to propose in. Make a trip to the Denver Zoo or even the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and then take a stroll through the green space to find the perfect spot to pop the question. After getting down on one knee, celebrate your engagement at one of the nearby restaurants or cafes.
Cheesman Park
Another great city park in Denver is Cheesman Park, which is right next to the Botanic Gardens. This place has some tall pillars that make for a romantic proposal location in town with beautiful and clean architecture.
Red Rocks Amphitheatre
If scenic views and a breathtaking experience beneath the stars sound like the ideal proposal, then consider Red Rocks Amphitheatre for a romantic night neither of you will ever forget. For a more intimate experience with just the two of you, consider going on a non-event day (even better if it’s at sunset!). There are also a variety of great walking/hiking trails in the area, so you could always pop the question on a hike with some of the same red rock formations.
Hanging Lake
Stunning views at the end of a nature-filled hike make this spot ideal for the adventurous couple.
With light waterfalls that spill into a gorgeous pool of water, this rare geological wonder makes for a photo-worthy engagement spot, as well as one of the most popular hikes in Colorado.
Be sure to avoid peak visit times and go during a less popular time of day in order to achieve a more intimate proposal.
Larimer Square
Make a night of the proposal by heading to historic Larimer Square. Start the evening off with some shopping at the local boutiques, then head to one of the many restaurants for dinner and drinks, followed by a romantic walk beneath the string lights. Finally, pick out a cozy corner to ask the big question. What better way to end an intimate evening?
Lake Dillon
Lake Dillon is one of the best scenic spots to access year-round for proposals. You can get a beautiful mix of lakeside and mountaintop views any time of the year, and there’s even a scenic viewing area (also popular for elopements and weddings) nearby called Sapphire Point.
We also have a handful of other much quieter spots in the area if you’re looking for something with fewer crowds around! Reach out to us for details.
Rocky Mountain National Park
. . . Or any other of our national parks, to be honest! Colorado has a few national parks and all of them are uniquely amazing: RMNP, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and Great Sand Dunes National Park. We also have the Colorado National Monument which is managed by the Park Service, and equally as stunning for engagements and proposals!
Washington Park
Set among blossoming flower gardens and surrounded by scenic water views, Washington Park makes for a peaceful place to pop the question. While there are plenty of spots throughout the park to get down on one knee, the historic boathouse overlooking the lake is, without a doubt, one of the most romantic.
Maroon Bells
Make a weekend trip out of your proposal by heading over to Aspen and hiking up to see the Maroon Bells. After choosing between a variety of scenic trails to hike on, you’ll be lead to the bell-shaped peaks that sit above the Maroon Valley and provide a breathtaking view — a backdrop that’s perfect for popping the question in front of.
Note: this location is only accessible via snowmobile or snowshoe in winter.
Garden of the Gods
Last, but definitely not least, is the popular Garden of the Gods. We definitely recommend a weekday (or sunrise!) proposal at this spot, since it’s extremely busy on weekends all year-round. But it’s also such a great backdrop with a variety of red rock formations to surround you for the big moment.
If you want something less touristy but still somewhat scenic with the red rocks in Colorado Springs, check out the nearby park of Red Rock Canyon Open Space!
