Last month, I had an absolute blast with these two genuine and fun individuals for their Colorado Springs elopement! When Cindy first reached out to me about capturing their special day, we debated several different places around the Denver and Boulder areas, but after I took a drive through Garden of the Gods with my husband this summer, I suggested the idea with so much enthusiasm, they jumped on board with the idea!
They came all the way from Kansas to Colorado to have an intimate day just the two of them, and found me through my Instagram! Although eloping can be a little hard on the heartstrings, especially with family members wishing they could be there, I do love that these moments are all about their love for one another and in such a laid back and stress-free way.
Despite some gloomy weather the week before, their wedding day was warm and sunny, making all of the sandstone in the Garden of the Gods turn bright orange-red. We drove around the park together, finding several fun places to take some portraits with their “We eloped in Colorado” sign, and a scenic spot for their ring exchange.
When I asked how the proposal happened, Cindy said, “We went to Oklahoma City to surprise my friend at her 30th birthday party. It was so much fun and I woke up feeling so full of love. Justin and I went to breakfast at the hotel and then ran back up to our room to get my purse. When I turned around he was down on one knee! It was simple and perfect and totally caught me off guard. I was so excited that I was able to surprise my friend and then Justin turned around and one upped me!”
Just like their proposal, the elopement itself was also simple in just the perfect way. Cindy found her dress at a thrift store, and originally didn’t plan on even having a bouquet, but when Justin wanted a boutonniere, she caved. 🙂
