What if your love story could sound like a Taylor Swift album?
From whimsical fairytales to midnight adventures, each of Taylor’s eras tells a story that could inspire the way you celebrate your own. If you’ve ever dreamed of tying the knot in a way that feels cinematic, romantic, and perfectly “you,” why not let your favorite Swift album guide your elopement plans?
(And maybe TSwift herself should elope, now that her and Travis are engaged!)
While I’m admittedly not someone who considers herself a true “Swiftie,” I do love her work and have been dreaming about making this collection of elopement location ideas for years now. It was just so fun to create alongside some help from my other Taylor Swift fans!
In this list below, we imagined each Taylor Swift album as the ultimate place to elope — whether that means twirling in a lavender field like Lover, exchanging vows under towering redwoods like Evermore, or saying “I do” under neon lights and starlight like Midnights.
Ready to find which Taylor Swift album matches your elopement vibe? Let’s dive in.

Taylor Swift – Backyard wedding
Taylor’s debut era is all about small-town beginnings, her country roots, and the magic of young love.
A backyard wedding perfectly encapsulates that simple yet heartfelt spirit. You could string some fairy lights up under your backyard trees, create a sweetheart table or picnic on the lawn, and exchange your vows in the comfort of your own home.
Or, if you’re wanting something that truly speaks to Taylor’s own country origins, Nashville may be a great place to elope. Complete with live music along Broadway, you can get a true sense of Taylor’s early days, writing and singing love songs that feel like home.

Fearless – italy
This next album launches Taylor into a unique country-gone-pop style, full of whimsy and fairytale love. And so many of us have at some point romanticized the idea of getting married in a place like Italy, full of fairytale charm and golden light.
Italy has no shortage of castle and meadow vibes that are sure to give you a sense of royalty for an elopement day. Whether you wear a sparkly dress as you sail across Lake Como, or you wander through Florence’s historic gardens together, you can have the kind of storybook ending you’ve always dreamed of.
Or if you want to stay more local, you might even consider getting married at the castle Taylor recorded her video for “Love Story” at – right in Tennessee!

Speak Now – the east coast
We asked a few fellow Swifties about this one, and while no one could quite agree on the ideal “elopement location” to fit the Speak Now album, everyone agrees that Speak Now is enchanted, nostalgic, and filled with sweeping romance.
The East Coast is filled with quaint towns and cozy small cities with lots of historic charm. Places like the misty coastlines of Maine or the streets of Charleston might be truly timeless choices for your elopement day.
Maybe opt for a vintage-inspired gown against a purple-hued sunset, or a candle-lit dinner near old brick buildings to give you the “Enchanted” setting.

Red – Appalachian Mountains
“Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place…”
Nothing quite matches the sense of Red as the deep burgundy and red colors of maple leaves in the fall. What better place to elope than the Appalachian Mountains in autumn?
You could elope in a place like the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, or farther north like upstate New York, where the fall leaves often pop bright red in September and October.

1989 – NYC OR San francisco
The 1989 era is glittering, bold, and full of electric energy. While it’s often called Taylor’s “beach” album, it also celebrates the thrill of city life. Picture your elopement on a rooftop in New York City, under twinkling lights with the skyline sparkling around you, or along San Francisco’s iconic streets, blending vintage charm with modern chic (plus access to some romantic local beaches!).
Channel the energy of “Welcome to New York” or the carefree joy of “Style” by leaning into glamorous details, bold fashion, and an urban backdrop that feels alive with possibility.
Reputation – Chicago or scotland?
There’s something super dark, edgy, and moody about Reputation that reminds us a lot of old gothic architecture and castle ruins.
Elopements with this vibe might fit in well with the grungy, older brick walls of a place like Chicago (if you’re staying in the States), or head across the pond to Scotland where you’ll find plenty of European Gothic architecture to go perfectly with a black or dark colored wedding dress. It’s a great fit for anyone looking for a bold, dramatic elopement day.

Lover – France
Why not elope with your lover to a place that feels just like Lover?
Although anywhere with plenty of soft colored cherry blossom trees may also work, we’re really envisioning a true “lavender haze” in a place like Paris or the famous rolling lavender fields of Provence, France are the most romantic places in the world for an elopement with the love of your life.
And if you can’t afford to elope to France, maybe opt for Washington State: Sequim is considered the “Lavender Capital of North America” and you can find plenty of lavender farms all across the state – without ever needing to use your passport.

Folklore – Washington State or Oregon
Taylor Swift’s Folklore is earthy, mystical, and poetic — a woodland fairytale come to life. The mossy PNW forests of Washington’s Olympic National Park capture this magical storytelling vibe in the best way!
Even a little farther south in Oregon’s rugged coastal areas could also be a good fit, complete with fern-covered trails, foggy forests, or a vow exchange on the edge of the Pacific. It’s the kind of elopement that can feel grounded, intimate, and romantic.

Evermore – California
The sister album to Folklore gives us similar vibes, sounds that make us feel introspective and peaceful, but with a bit more sunshine and golden light.
Think of Folklore as the forest and Evermore as the meadow. California’s rugged Big Sur Coastline, Point Reyes‘ windswept cliffs, or the open fields and hills of Napa Valley are all beautiful backdrops to match this poetic and peaceful era.
Or, as this article suggests, maybe even the epic scenery at Yosemite National Park!

Midnights – Nevada
“Let’s go to Vegas and elope!” — Taylor Swift, as her character Elaine in the show New Girl.
Midnights is glittering, restless, and starlit, a romantic combination of neon city lights and deep midnight skies.
Maybe what you’re looking for is an elopement on the Vegas Strip before heading out into the Nevada desert, where some of the darkest places reveal the most breathtaking skies for the ultimate stargazing experience. Add some twinkle lights, candles, and a just-us-two champagne toast for the right mix of intimacy and golden glow.

The Tortured Poets Department – Library / bookstore
While we love documenting elopements in the outdoors, there’s also nothing quite like the sense of awe or romance of being surrounded by the greatest love stories ever written.
And as a former English major and writer, I think TTPD has a sense of intimacy, literary romance, and quiet rebellion — which all goes perfectly with the idea of eloping in a historic library or bookstore.
Picture yourself exchanging vows while surrounded by tall marble columbs, vintage typewriters, floor-to-ceiling shelves, spiral staircases, and the scent of old books.
Some of the most beautiful libraries in the world may also make for the dreamiest places to elope or host a small wedding in. You’ll want to check with each individual location first to ask about permissions or potential permits/reservations needed, but just based off appearance alone, here are some of our top picks for a TTPD elopement day:

- Seattle Public Library, Washington
- George Peabody Library, Baltimore
- Carnegie Library, Pittsburgh
Time for Your Own Elopement Era
Eloping is all about creating a wedding day that feels authentic, romantic, and true to your story, just like each of Taylor’s albums tells a unique chapter of hers.
Whether your heart belongs to the dreamy landscapes of Folklore, the glittering energy of 1989, or the soulful quiet of The Tortured Poets Department, your elopement can be as romantic and whimsical as a Taylor Swift lyric.
So, which album speaks to your love story? No matter the setting — backyard, castle, coastline, cityscape, or forest — your elopement can be the perfect soundtrack to your own greatest love story.
