I’m not joking when I say I got all teary eyed multiple times while taking and editing these photographs. It wasn’t just because I know Angelo & Sterling personally (Angelo and I used to work together), but also just because there was SO much love and warmth at their wedding from both sides of their family.
Since they are very supportive of the arts, they decided to have their ceremony on stage at the Venice Performing Arts Center, followed by a reception at the Venice Art Center, with paintings and photographs from local artists hung all around the room. It was so much fun taking their getting ready portraits in the backstage dressing rooms, and I loved the decorative arch they put together as their ceremony backdrop on stage.
Some of my favorite details: Angelo and Sterling wore custom-made barongs, traditional Filipino hand-embroidered suits for grooms — each of them completely unique from the other. Their ceremony in the theatre was stage-lit, perfect for their wedding theme which was “light”. Angelo surprised Sterling by playing the piano in the middle of the ceremony with his sister singing “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion.
And they (of course) had a fun first dance that was a choreographed dance to a mashup of a few songs! Not to mention the amazing catered dinner! Angelo’s siblings even wrote and sang a song about how Sterling’s officially stuck with them for life 😉
It was all so beautiful and fun, and I absolutely love these images from the big day!
