Garden of the Gods is already one of my favorite places in all of Colorado, but I love the way the red rocks look even more when they’re covered in snow! This winter elopement was so perfect and intimate, just the way Karen & Spencer were hoping for.
When the weather report mentioned snow was coming the night before, I was so excited to see everything lit up in the morning with a fresh layer of white. The sky cleared earlier than we anticipated, and warmed up quickly in the sunlight despite temps in the 20s and 30s.
Karen wore a vintage dress she found at Springs Bridal and Ballroom and used lace from her mother’s wedding dress to wrap the base of the bouquet in, and even made a few little fabric flowers for her hair! She also brought a fur shawl to wear which kept her really warm the whole morning. Spencer’s nice leather shoes were soaked by the time we were halfway through portraits, so he switched to snow boots and Karen said she’d have to buy him some new shoes to replace the ones that were ruined. 🙂
Spencer proposed to her while they were putting ornaments on the Christmas tree a few months ago. He was handing her ornaments to hang up and when she turned around for the next one, he was on one knee with the ring! And this ring is truly gorgeous. It has a vintage look, but is totally new! By far one of the most unique rings I’ve seen to date and I love it!
